Cambodia Casinos
July 19th, 2019 by Kailey

There is a captivating background to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just over the border from nearby Thailand, in which gambling hall gambling is prohibited. Eight casinos are situated in a relatively tiny location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime area, a 3 to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing capital accrued from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of controls constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; although, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 1700, and even though visas are supposedly required to cross, there are methods around this, as is true of most border crossings.

The initial Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary ship gambling hall, highlights 150 one armed bandits and sixty gaming tables. The Naga gambling den is open 24 hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of 21, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of 150 slot machines and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 one armed bandits and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat banque (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and sixty six of the familiar gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational vacation and hotel building that features a number of conveniences on top of the casino, which houses ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slot machines and 88 gaming tables.
